Tyrian: Best PC shooter ever or bestest PC shooter ever?

I dunno if this is supposed to be a snide remark or not, but that's not exactly fair. Most people will compare Tyrian to Raptor: Call of the Shadows (and with good reason). But there's also Traffic Department 2192 (co-desgined and co-composed by a very young Owen Pallett!), Xenon 2, Super Stardust 96, Raiden, Project X, Llamatron...

...no, no, I don't obsess.

No idea, but is that soundtrack awesome or what. You can always count on Alexander Brandon.
>> No. 106
remember the good RAPTOR call of the shadows and the XENON2 amiga conversion

Not sure if this is the right thread, but i was wondering if any of you guys remember playing this game? I personally had hours of fun in the computer lab with this game. But i cannot remember the name of it for the life of me.

What if someone told you that you could have a choice of any vintage games you want thrown onto a 5.25 floppy. And, what if you could have any classic games thrown onto a DVD? Which ones would you pick?

Alternatively you can use boot disks and do whatever you want, too; without having to mess with your setup files.

Don't know why I've never seen that, really glad I did

I replayed Half Life Source about two years ago and I'll be buttfucked if it doesn't hold up amazingly well for a game that old

I mean it's still an awesome fucking game, I was so extremely pumped by the time you reach the above ground sections with the all out war between you, the soldiers and the aliens that I almost forgot I was playing an old game

Mandatory Doom thread.
Picture related, Skulltag with the Zdoomwars mod. You can summon monsters from the Doom Engine games, like Doom (obviously), Heretic, Hexen, Strife, ChexQuest(!) and Virus(Another doom mod).

Get Skulltag : http://skulltag.net/download/
Get Zdoomwars : http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=22583
Or you can just join a zdoomwars server, and GetWad will download the wads for you.

I figured since I don't actually post here all that regularly, I'd start this build thread.

Because of the nature of my site (http://coreduo.me.uk, by the way </shameless advertisement>), it became a necessity to be able to test older games that will not run on my Windows 7 machines and will not run on VMware due to its incompatibility with older VESA standards.

Planned build:

GIGABYTE GA-586SG Socket 7 motherboard (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=1565&dl=#sp)
AMD K6-2 500MHz
512MB PC-100 to start out, maybe add another 256MB EDO to max out the board
NVIDIA GeForce4 440MX
Creative SoundBlaster AWE32 + 32MB RAM expansion
Addonics IDE to CF card adapter w/4GB CF Card
Rosewill RC-201 PCI SATA card w/ 250GB HDD
Antec Earthwatts EA-380D, This may change depending on if the +3.3V and +5V rails are rated high enough. I don't think a K6-2 will exceed that.
Full Tower AT case with ATX PSU bay and ATX soft-buttons

Essentially you could set up Windows XP SP2 up on a second hard drive on your system, and it should work fine for everything beyond the year of 1995. Earlier, and Dosbox would be your best bet.
>> No. 85
You could have just ran Virtual PC.

I've built a few oldies, back in the day, but I digress.
